FRIDAY SOUND BATH

What is it?

A Gong Sound Bath is a meditative experience where participants are enveloped in the restorative vibrations of gongs. The term "sound bath" suggests a full immersion into sound, much like being submerged in water, where sound waves wash over and through the body, creating a profound sensory experience. The mind becomes quiet and as one surrenders to the sound current, pent up tension can be released.

What does a session look like?

Participants typically lie down on mats or sit comfortably while the gong player plays the gongs. The session begins with guided exercises to help participants settle in and become present in their bodies. After the sound of the gongs ebbs out there is a moment of silence to allow the body to adjust before returning to the present. It is a good idea to drink plenty of water afterwards.

What to expect?

The experience can be very individual and vary from person to person or even from day to day. Sometimes you might feel physical sensations, such as tingling or warmth, as the sound vibrations interact with your body. On other days the deep, earthy vibration might make you emotional, breaking free a bundle of bottled-up emotions within you. Sometimes you just fall asleep and wondrously wake up just in time at the end of the session, relaxed and renewed, like returning from a dream. For those, with an active thinking mind, the gong can help facilitate deep meditative states, making it easier to enter a state of stillness and peaceful calm.

What to bring?

Mats, blankets and yoga bolsters are prepared for you at the studio. Please wear clothes you feel comfortable in. If you like, you can bring a water bottle, eye pillow and warm socks with you. As we relax, the body tends to cool down.
